European Avocado Prices — Live Wholesale, Retail & Spot Data
The European avocado trade runs through five core markets — Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands and Poland — supplied by Peru, Spain, Israel, Colombia, Kenya, Morocco and Chile as origin volumes rotate through the season. We scan wholesale hub quotes, retail shelf prices and spot terminal rates across all five markets every day, so the averages on this page always reflect the latest trade reality.
Prices are quoted per kilogram in EUR; multiply by four for the standard 4 kg trade box used in CIRAD FruiTrop market reporting. Use the live averages, origin breakdown and 30-day trend below to benchmark your buying or selling position across the continent.

How the European avocado market is priced
Europe's avocado price is set at the import stage: when Peruvian, Colombian, Kenyan and Chilean containers land at Rotterdam and other northern ports, the resulting terminal and port-market quotes become the benchmark every downstream market — wholesale hubs, ripeners, retail programs — prices against.
Because the continent runs on the same trade box (4 kg) and the same reference variety (Hass), price levels move together across the five markets we scan. Divergence between countries is usually logistics-driven — Spain's domestic season is the big exception, undercutting the import price for half the year.
What to watch in the season
The European avocado year has a rhythm: Peru peaks from May to August and creates the annual price trough; the Peru-to-Spain handover in early autumn usually firms the market; winter is covered by Spain, Israel and Morocco at higher levels; and spring transitions — Peru returning, Spain finishing — are the most volatile weeks of the year.
Retail promotions amplify whatever the wholesale market does: a heavy multi-buy week in France or the Netherlands pulls volume through faster and can temporarily firm import prices. The promotion panel on our dashboard tracks exactly those weeks.

How these prices are collected
Wholesale, retail and spot averages are recomputed daily from scanned quotes at the Rungis, Mercamadrid, Rotterdam, Berlin, Frankfurt, Lyon, Málaga and Warsaw Broniszewo terminals and retail observatories. Prices are quoted in EUR per kilogram; the 4 kg trade box equivalent is the continental trading unit.
Origin, variety and caliber breakdowns come from the same scanned records, and CIRAD FruiTrop weekly reporting is used as the cross-check benchmark for the import-stage reference price.
Prices are informational market intelligence in EUR, not financial or trading advice. Averages are recomputed regularly from the latest scanned market data and are quoted per kilogram, with the 4 kg trade box equivalent.
Frequently asked questions
What is the average wholesale avocado price in Europe today?
The live European wholesale average is shown in the statistics section above, updated daily from scanned quotes across German, French, Spanish, Dutch and Polish wholesale markets. It is quoted per kilogram, with the 4 kg box equivalent alongside it.
Which EU country has the cheapest avocado wholesale prices?
Spain is typically the cheapest market between October and May, when domestic Andalusian production covers most of its demand. Outside the Spanish season, the Netherlands often posts the most competitive quotes because Rotterdam's import volumes create a liquid, transit-oriented market.
How are the prices on this page collected?
A scheduled daily scan pulls the latest published quotes from wholesale hubs (Rungis, Mercamadrid, Rotterdam, Berlin, Broniszewo), retail observatories and port market data, then re-computes the averages shown on this page.
